Croydon Schools U16s 3 bt Islington & Camden Schools U16s 2

A superb penalty save by Matt Martin (Coulsdon) was the highlight of Croydon Schools' under-16s' hard-earned 3-2 victory over favourites Islington & Camden Schools in this London Schools' FA Hawke Trophy quarter-final tie at Powerleague, Norbury.

With Croydon leading 3-2, Martin tipped the spot kick on to a post and saved again when the ball rebounded to an Islington player who shot from close range.

Freedom Pigott (Stanley Technical) had shot Croydon into the lead after five minutes and two headers from Robert Wingfield (Ashburton) edged Croydon ahead each time the visitors equalised.

Woking Schools' U15s 4 bt Croydon Schools' U15s 1

Croydon Schools' under-15s paid the penalty for missed chances and made an early exit from the Surrey Schools' Invitation Cup at the hands of Woking at Chertsey on Saturday.

The Woking keeper was in good form but even so, Croydon hit the post twice and then looked well placed with several one-on-one situations which came to nothing.

Consolation for Croydon came when Joshua Findlater (Woodcote) netted, maintaining his record of scoring in each of Croydon's five matches this season and taking his tally to eight goals.

Croydon Schools' U14s 4 bt Haringey Schools' U14s 2

Daniel Robertson (St Joseph's College) marked his competitive debut for Croydon Schools' under-14s with a well-taken hat-trick against Haringey at Edmonton in a London Schools' FA Sun Shield first round tie.

Croydon went 3-0 up after only 15 minutes. Lucas Roache got the first after 10 minutes before Robertson grabbed two goals in two minutes.

Defensive lapses allowed Haringey back into the match which Croydon had dominated and the interval score of 3-2 in Croydon's favour was not a true reflection of their superiority.

Austin Gacheru (St Joseph's) formed a formidable partnership with Robertson, who completed the scoring 15 minutes from time.
