Showcase, formerly the Southall Operatic Company, will be presenting a musical with rather unsavoury origins at the Compass Theatre this week.
The story of Jack the Ripper is one of the greatest unsolved mysteries ever.
Police and residents alike were baffled and remain so by the bloodthirsty murders of six prostitutes that took place in the alleys of Whitechapel in 1888.
Despite the gloomy background, the vibrant musical version of Jack the Ripper has a string of rousing numbers and many lovely ballads.
Originally researched and written for London's centre of Music Hall tradition, the Players Theatre, the show is also a nostalgic look back at Victorian life in the East End.
Jack the Ripper is at the Compass Theatre, Glebe Avenue, Ickenham from tonight (November 15) until Saturday (November 17).
Performances are at 7.30pm, with a matinee at 2.30pm on Saturday.
Call 8400 9042 for tickets, which are £9/£7.
