Bromley: A driver crashed his car into a post box after he reached down to pick up his spectacles.
The man, who has not been named, was driving his Audi at less than 30mph along Wickham Road at around 9pm when his glasses fell off his face. Reaching down to pick them up off the floor, he clipped the car on the boulder of a central island.
Bouncing off the metal and concrete base of the boulder, the car was thrown to the left into the post box on the junction of Wickham Road and Kemerton Road.
Two photographers, who both live in Wickham Road, caught the aftermath of the crash on their cameras.
Nick ffrench, 54, said: "It was just such a spectacular site. One of my first thoughts was there would be no post for Christmas this year."
David Crossman, also 54, said: "I was taking photos when the driver walked up and told me what had happened. His car had completely plucked the pillar box out of the pavement.
"His words to me before I left were to carry on taking photos."
