GREENWICH University is one of the top 25 per cent in the country for training teachers in design and technology, physical education and art.
At a time when teacher recruitment and training is under the national spotlight, the Avery Hill faculty of education and training has been awarded top grades for by Ofsted
The inspectors awarded the faculty top grades for its quality of training, accuracy and consistency of assessment.
In all other categories it was awarded grade two marks, just underneath the highest level of achievement.
The report praises the faculty for regularly updating its design and technology course to take account of new developments.
Greenwich also scored highly for secondary teacher training in art and physical education.
Head of school Mary Stiasny said: "Schools in the region can be sure they are getting top quality teachers from the University of Greenwich."
