THE E's poor league form continued as they totally capitulated to local rivals Hendon and suffered their biggest reverse of the season, a defeat which sees them propping up the table.o
During the first few minutes they looked solid enough, apparently continuing from where they had left off the previous week, and there was no hint of the carnage to follow.o
Hendon drew first blood on seven minutes when Eugene Ofori made the most of some slack Enfield defending to put a long-range shot past the unsighted Enfield custodian Kenny Addai.
Other than a single attempt at goal by George Georgiou, midway through the half, Hendon dominated proceedings to the break. Ofori, who terrorised the E's defence all afternoon, hit the post a second time and Byron Bubb curled a peach of a shot just wide before Paul Fewings put Hendon 2-0 up on 39 minutes.
Addai made a stunning tip-over from Bubb just moments before the break to ensure that Enfield were still in contention for the second period.
Enfield started the second period strongly and were unlucky not to reduce the arrears almost immediately when Vas Soteriou put over a pin-point cross for Georgiou, but the Enfield man's goal-bound volley was well saved by David Hook and the loose ball fell to Oliver Petersen who struck the woodwork before it was hacked away for a corner.
However, it was a false dawn as gradually Hendon regained control and Ofori scored his second goal of the game on 55 minutes to underline their dominance. In an attempt to turn things round, Enfield made a double substitution but it was not enough to stem the green tide.
On 75 minutes Bubb scored with a screaming 35-yard free kick which cleared the Enfield wall and on 82 minutes, Georgiou was denied a consolation goal as Hook made an excellent stop.
From the subsequent clearance Hendon attained their fifth goal as the unfortunate Simon Peddie put past his own keeper.
Salt was well and truly rubbed into Enfield's wounds when ex-E Joe Nartey, making his Hendon debut having signed from Enfield a week earlier, scored their final goal of the game to secure a well deserved victory.
