SATURDAY's visit of Arsenal to White Hart Lane will arguably be one of the most hostile north London derbies for years.

With former Spurs captain Sol Campbell being passed fit to play it will be a very highly charged atmosphere if he appears in a Gunners shirt.

The former Spurs favourite shocked the football world when he defected to Highbury on a Bosman free-transfer in the summer and rumour has it that if he walks out at the Lane the home fans will turn their backs on him.

Arsenal forward Dennis Bergkamp also stoked the fires this week by claiming the Gunners are too big to worry about playing their bitter rivals.

Talking to the official Gunners website, the Dutchman felt it appropriate to stick the knife in about the 27-year-old England defender's decision to move to Arsenal.

He said: "Sol made a decision to take a step up in his career.

"It is outrageous that he is being punished for this, but he won't be bothered by any stick."

However, it would appear that the Spurs camp aren't getting involved in any psychological battles before the clash, as White Hart Lane winger Darren Anderton is more concerned that good football should be played.

The midfielder, who is in his 10th season with Tottenham, is currently on a high after being awarded his 30th England cap at the weekend, although he is still determined to put one over the old enemy.

"It's always a difficult game," he told the official Tottenham website. "You don't get a lot of time on the ball but this season both teams are playing good football so you never know, it could be different.

"Personally I think it will be the same, fiery, but there might not be so much rough and tumble."

Boss Glen Hoddle will clearly be hoping that his side can maintain the good form, which won him the Barclay Card Manager of the Month award for October.

He will also be keen for his side to beat one of the Premiership's top teams after they performed so well against Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Leeds but lost to all four.

This Anderton agreed with by saying: "The defeats have been very disappointing and we feel we might not have lost most of them.

"However, we will just have to wait and see what happens on Saturday."

The record books show that the Spurs go into the game with 28 home victories against Arsenal's 21 away wins, with 15 draws between the two sides.
