A GRAVESEND home was severely damaged when a cigarette caused a fire in the living room.
Around 1am, firefighters were called out to a home in Dickens Road where a discarded cigarette had set furniture alight.
A spokesman for Thames-side Fire Station said: "There were no casualties but the ground floor was severely damaged. The fire started when discarded smoking material ignited upholstery. It was accidental and the firefighters managed to get it under control within half an hour."
