A NUMBER of questions arise from the council's decision to cancel this year's firework display.
What exactly were the health and safety implications preventing us from having our show? Which councillor is responsible for this event? Which event company had the council chosen to put on the display? When was the decision taken to cancel the event? How big was the cancellation fee? And finally, if this venue was water logged, where did all the water come from? It was surely not the heavens.
We need to be determined that we don't allow any further backsliding on cultural and social events such as this, which are vital to improving the image of Waltham Forest.
As a community, we must do our bit to ensure that we make this a more attractive town to the thousands of professionals in London who are looking for somewhere affordable to live.
LAURANCE WEDDERBURN,
Walthamstow Conservative Association.
