DESPITE losing World Champion Peter Nichol from their line-up, the UK Packaging Squash Team managed to pull off a fine victory over Unis Guildford on Tuesday.

The late transfer of Laurens Anjema from team Chichester to UK Packaging certainly paid dividends as, cheered on by a boisterous home crowd, the young Dutchman registered a fine win over Scottish number three Neil Frankland.

On the next court, Guildford's Fi Geaves was causing UK Packaging's Linda Charman-Smith all sorts of problems with some fabulous squash.

England captain Charman-Smith was however able to claw her way back into the game to secure victory.

Her five-set victory was crucial to the team's chances of victory and the onus was now firmly on Guildford.

The home's side's Angus Kirkland was however dispatched with a minimum amount of fuss by Guildford's Stacy Ross.

The second-string tie of Ian Higgins and Stephen Meads had been billed as pistols at dawn, and they didn't fail to disappoint.

With both players renowned for using their bodies and doing whatever they can to bend the rules it was always going to be a contest that any referee would find difficult to control.

The result of this hard-fought battle, which witnessed plenty of body contact unseen by the official, was a win for Higgins and UK Packaging.

Captain Tim Garner also secured an unneeded 3-1 win over world number 13 Paul Johnson to wrap up a fine night a comfortable 4-1 victory for UK Packaging.

The presentation was made during the UK Packaging and Unis Guildford match to Peter Nichol and BSPA board member Tim Garner.
