BUPA CARE HOMES OPEN: These championships at Norbreck Castle in Blackpool have provoked plenty of comment, writes Geoff Martyr.
Most of the spectators were crown green bowlers and they generally approved of the coloured bowls, the carpet and playing from one end.
But flat green bowlers did not like the players' costumes.
Nearly all of the matches provided excellent bowling and not one top seed reached the final. Many thought Andy Thomson would go through only for him to be knocked out by an unseeded Australian.
In my opinion the atmosphere was a little bit lacking and it was difficult for the players to relax.
