A Wallington bank clerk drove away from Sutton in a brand new Peugeot 206 this month after winning a competition organised by the Comet and the Times Square shopping centre.

But 21-year-old Lisa Buckenham, of Gomshall Avenue, was not the only victor in the mystery photograph contest, entered by residents across the borough. All the proceeds from the competition will go to our appeal.

As the Comet went to press, the sums were still being counted, but early estimates put the total at close to the £1,000 mark.

Whatever it is, it is sure to give the Young Carers Project another very welcome boost.

Apart from the centre, thanks must go to McKinnon Motors, of Stafford Road, Wallington, for donating the prize car.

And, obviously, we cannot forget Lisa and the 7,729 other borough residents who entered the competition and attempted to identify the five mystery photographs, published in the Sutton Comet in September.

Competitors were then invited to go along to Times Square on one of four days, guess the identity of the sixth and final mystery snap and pay £1 to enter the contest money destined for the project.

Lisa, who collected her new set of wheels from the centre on Friday, November 2, was one of many who correctly guessed the six borough landmarks pictured Carew Manor, Nonsuch House, St Peter's Church, Whitehall, Wallington Old Courthouse and Times Square itself.

Once the final total is worked out, centre manager Noel Bergman will be looking to pop down the road to Sutton Carers Centre to give project workers Gillian Marchant and Lucy Dean the good news and the cash.
