Carshalton Athletic 1
Northwood 1
Carshalton earned a hard fought point against a well organised Northwood side.
The opening exchanges were pretty even, but Carshalton should have scored in the 41st minute. A lovely through ball over the top of the Northwood defence by Stuart Massey put in Isaac Jackson who ran on and lobbed the advancing keeper, Jackson seeing his effort go agonisingly wide of the post.
Three minutes later, Northwood's Ryan Ashe played a defence splitting pass to Lawrence Yaku, who ran on and drilled a sweet right foot shot inside Searle's nearside post, giving the away side the lead.
Five minutes into the second half, Northwood's Wayne Carter was harshly sent off for a two footed lunge on Kevin Lock.
In the 52nd minute, Carshalton won a corner. It was played to the far post to an unmarked Gary Elliott whose knocked down header fell to Kevin Lock, who equalised from two yards out.
Nine minutes later, Isaac Jackson crossed to Nick Hegley whose fantastic volley came crashing down off the crossbar.
Both sides missed chances to take the points, but with time almost up, the ball fell at the feet of Lock whose shot was brilliantly saved by the Northwood keeper.
