The long awaited Park and Ride scheme for Christmas shoppers begins this weekend, promising the cheapest all-day parking in town.
Free buses will run from the Brighton Road multi-storey car park and the UCI Cinema in St Nicholas Way.
Driven by volunteers from Sutton Community Transport, the buses will run every 15 minutes.
They will begin their journey every Saturday morning from 9am to 6pm and on Sundays in December from 10am to 5pm costing £2 and 50p respectively.
Sutton town centre manager Richard Thomas said: "We are working hard to avoid congestion in the run-up to Christmas. Brighton Road is the cheapest car park, yet offers the same high standards as the council's other multi-storeys.
"The bus service will make the trip back to the car park easier for those with children and lots of shopping to carry. I am grateful to Sutton Community Transport and the council's parking services for their help with this project."
