What on earth is going on in our borough? There are three hundred tots on a waiting list for swimming lessons and the list is growing (Sutton Comet, October 26).
With recent revelations refurbishment and repair bills at Cheam and Westcroft Leisure Centres have reached close to £4 million, a council spokesman called the waiting list an "unfortunate situation". Really!
I call it outright scandalous that such a situation could possibly arise and a few heads need to roll.
With Westcroft the only centre to have a teaching pool for under fives and only eight children allowed in each class, the matter is too ridiculous for words.
These tots deserve better. I can only wonder where all our council tax goes. The money has to be found to give our tots the opportunity to learn to swim, after all it may save their lives one day.
