HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS 1 KINGSTONIAN 1
Its a big day for Kingstonian Football Club this Saturday when they entertain local rivals Hampton & Richmond Borough, writes Phil Windeatt.
The club officially launches its new family and disabled sections sponsored by our sister paper the Surrey Comet.
It should be a real family occasion, and details of how children can get in free will be published in the Comet tomorrow.
Ks picked up a point at Heybridge Swifts last Saturday. But boss Steve Sedgley saw it as two points dropped.
Heybridges players were clearly keen to impress new manager Dave Greene and made life difficult for Ks in the opening 40 minutes.
Ks in-form keeper Lance Key made excellent saves from Dominic Gentle and Kevin Budge in the first 10 minutes.
But Ks should have taken a 12th minute lead when Danny Bolts cross was missed by keeper Kingsley Banks. But an unmarked Greg Ball headed wide.
Key made a double save to deny Budge and Sean Caton, while Max Hustwick headed wide from a Bolt free kick at the other end.
Ks took the lead five minutes into the second half. Bolt split the Swifts backline and Ball took off on a pacy solo run, rounded the Swifts keeper and coolly curled the ball into the net.
But Heybridge equalised when Mark Jones tripped Budge in the box and Gentle sent Key the wrong way with his scuffed spot kick.
Ks immediately had a marvellous opportunity to regain their lead when Sadler took off on a long run down the middle of the park but unluckily scuffed his drive wide.
At the other end Roberts hit a ferocious first time volley that slammed against Ks post.
