A BRAND new shiny nursery block has been opened at Snaresbrook College Prep School.

The facilities, which have cost over £150,000, is the result of a project which has been in motion during the last 15 to 20 years.

Work was finished in late October and the youngsters have now moved in to try out their new classrooms.

The block, which has been designed specially to give pupils and staff extra space, was officially opened last week.

Cutting the ribbon was Sheila Ferrari, headteacher at neighbouring school Avon House.

Guests at the ceremony included owners and directors of the school, Stephen and Hilary Mathison and Alan and Elizabeth Simmons.

A thanksgiving service was also held to mark the opening of the new classrooms.

Headteacher Linda Chiverall said: We're delighted to have the new nursery and reception block finally in use.

It's really nice and the children are already enjoying the facilities. They love the bright colours. Staff are also enjoying having much more space.

Mrs Chiverall added: The project has been a long standing one. It's taken 15 to 20 years for it to be completed, but it's worked out really well.

It's a great addition to the rest of the school and will benefit the children enormously.

The school in Woodford Road, South Woodford, is hoping to put up a commemorative plaque at the front of the block.

Mrs Chiverall said: It's been a long time coming, but it's been worth the wait.

SNARESBROOK College Prep School's PTA will hold its Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, November 24. All are welcome.
