THE Good Person of Sichuan was the annual production performed by students at Caterham High School.
Written by Betold Brecht, the play has been described as a hard-hitting and vibrant theatrical tale.
It tells of a time when the Gods come to earth in search of a good person. They award money to a kind-hearted woman ShenTe, who buys a tobacco shop.
But her greedy neighbours instantly take advantage of her good nature and drive her towards bankruptcy.
To save herself, she invents and impersonates a ruthless man ShuiTa.
The parable was written on the eve of World War II.
Characters were played by Danny Emmerson and Natalie Wood. Playing the main character of ShenTe was 14-year-old Jade Boyle-Hulbert. Wang, a water seller who is used by the gods as their messenger was performed by Amandeep Gill, 14.
Students from Year 12, with ages ranging from 12 to 17, also took part in 26-strong cast. Many were responsible for lighting, sound and scene changes.
