AN audit has found Dartford Borough Council to be financially sound and "well placed to meet future changes".
The independent external research, carried out by Pricewaterhouse Coopers, was presented at the council's General Assembly.
The report highlights a number of findings, including news reserve funds currently equal £8.7m, an increase of £1.5m on 2000/2001.
The report highlighted the "risks and opportunities from major economic development locally", and praised Dartford Council's "careful husbandry of resources".
Despite this, there has been criticism the council is hoarding funds which would be better spent addressing problems in the area.
The audit results have delighted council leader and cabinet chairman Councillor John Muckle: "We are committed to providing continued service improvement. But at the end of the day it is the judgement of local people which matters most. We are working hard to provide good quality, value for money services."
