HAMPTON & RICHMOND 2 SUTTON UNITED 1
Paul de Luca came of the bench to score for the second game running and give Hampton & Richmond a derby victory over Sutton United, reports Les Rance.
Hampton boss Steve Cordery had good reason to be delighted with the result, particularly as the Beavers were forced to play the last 20 minutes with 10 men.
In the first half, Hampton were desperately unlucky not to take the lead when they struck the frame of the goal twice in a matter of seconds.
The Beavers took a deserved lead in the 67th minute. Richard OConnors free kick proved too hot for Suttons Moroccan international goalkeeper Chuck Martini to hold and de Luca, a replacement for the injured Craig Maskell, stabbed the ball home.
Sutton were level within 30 seconds, through Dave Timothy, and Hampton were reduced to 10 men when their other debutant Fouhade Belaid was sent off for his second booking.
But de Luca restored their advantage when he strode away from his markers and chipped the ball over Martini.
