Geno's back! The man who sold out the Eel Pie Club earlier this year and who has had a No. 1 single written about him is getting ready to make a welcome return to the Twickenham next week.

Geno Washington is one of the true veterans of the British R n' B scene, making his name in the original Eel Pie Club of the 1960s. Almost 40 years on he is still playing to capacity crowds.

Originally from Indiana, Geno came to England in the early 60s while serving with the American Army. In 1964 he formed the now legendary Ram Jam Band, and three years later their album, Hand Clappin', Foot Stompin, Funky Butt Live, became the third highest-selling record of the year, spending 48 weeks in the charts.

The Ram Jam Band with Geno went on to work with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and the Kinks.

Spin forward in time to 1984 and Geno was back at the top of the charts courtesy of Dexy's Midnight Runners, whose No. 1 single Oh Geno was written as tribute to the star.

Having lost none of his style, Geno is as good as he ever was and Wednesday should be a memorable night out.
