Java is a programming language that has revolutionised programming over recent years.
Usually programming languages have a limited use depending on the type of computer they were designed for.
Java, however, broke that trend and the programs written using it can be used in everything requiring even the smallest microchip your own microwave for example.
But web pages can use another language called Javascript, which differs from Java.
Javascript allows the programmer to perform tasks on a web page that can enhance its appearance and increase its performance, such as for pop-up boxes or forms which can be filled in.
But it can also spoil the surfing experience if used incorrectly, by writing program code to open repeated new browser windows, which can be annoying.
There is an ability to turn Javascript off on your browser, but this can also ruin the experience on lots of sites.
