I note with a wry smile Post Office assurances that Putney Post Office will hardly be affected when extra merchandise' is sold there.

Over the years, along with other Southfields residents, I have got used to squeezing my way past shelves of groceries, newspapers and so on all available in adjacent shops to reach the far corner of what is supposed to be the main post office.

Last week there was a new addition, an automatic photo booth, which is no small item. What was more worrying was that it was in the post office area.

The floor of the post office is tiled. The tiles are 18in square. We, the loyal customers, have 37 tiles left on which to queue.

Be warned Putney.
