Motorists in Wandsworth are being encouraged to select fuels with a lower sulphur content.
Multinational BP has launched an environmentally-centred marketing campaign' to help drivers make a positive impact on air quality.
BP's fuels marketing manager Peta Thompson said the company had an eco-friendly focus: "The company is committed to a cleaner environment and provides consumers with innovative products that help make this happen.
"The cleaner fuels help to reduce air pollution caused by vehicle emissions."
The company has developed a range of fuels which it claims substantially reduces sulphur emissions in diesel by 90 per cent and in petrol by 66 per cent, meeting the 2005 European fuel emission regulations.
In October, the company won a national silver Green Apple Award run by The Green Organisation, in the Energy and Environment category.
The gong recognised a number of the multinational's environmental initiatives, including using solar energy, contributing to the Woodland Trust and developing reed bed technology that provides an eco-friendly solution for waste treatment.
BP opened its latest Connect shop, in Trinity Road, Wandsworth, last week.
