Carshalton Athletic 1 Northwood 1
Carshalton had to work hard to get a point against hard-working Northwood on Saturday.
Northwood had the first chance in the 15th minute when Stuart Searle dived low to his left to save from Ryan Ashe while at the other end Kevin Lock and Nick Hegley saw attempts blocked by Northwood defenders.
Carshalton suffered a blow in the 27th minute when Bontcho Guentchev had to limp off with a hamstring injury to be replaced by Isaac Jackson.
Byron Glasgow had a shot well saved by Northwood keeper Paul Riordon after the keeper fumbled Hegley's free kick while Searle had to be acrobatic to keep out Wayne Carter's free kick at the other end.
Jackson saw a 41st minute effort go agonisingly wide after being put through by Stuart Massey.
Just before the break Northwood took advantage when Lawrence Yaku drilled the ball past Searle from Ryan Ashe's defence-splitting pass.
But Northwood were reduced to 10 men early in the second half when Wayne Carter was rather harshly sent off for a lunge at Lock.
Within two minutes Lock had scored his first league goal for the Robins, converting Gary Elliott's knock down.
Hegley might have won it with a superb volley coming back off the bar while and audacious 40-yard lob by Byron Glasgow went narrowly over.
Lock nearly won it at the end but Riordon made a brilliant save with his legs.
Carshalton: Searle, Hollingsworth, Moore, Akers, Elliott, Massey, Glasgow, York, Lock, Guentchev, Hegley. Subs: Jackson, Gartell, Robson.
