EVACUATION software designed at Greenwich University has won a top computer industry award.
Exodus, created by the Fire Safety Engineering Group, has topped this year's British Computer Society IT Awards.
Designed to help building, aircraft and ship designers save lives, it has become the leading evacuation tool for the safety industry, free of the costly and potentially dangerous human evacuation trials. Incorporating complex behavioural models, it replicates realistic interactions between people's reactions to fire and structure.
Founding director of the group Professor Ed Galea said: "We are honoured to have won this award. We have a very dedicated team which, over the years, has put in a lot of hard work to get us here."
The software has used on projects in 20 countries with clients ranging from the Airbus A380 to the Sydney Olympic Stadium.
