A new production of a popular musical will open next week.

Me and My Girl is being staged by the Ravensbourne Light Operatic Society at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley, from November 27.

The show is set in the 1930s and tells the story of Lambeth barrow boy Bill Snibson, who unexpectedly inherits the title of Earl of Hareford and a stately country mansion.

A heart-warming love story develops as he tries to win over its aristocratic occupants without losing Sally, his girl back home.

Bob Cockshott, chairman of the society, said: "This is the perfect musical to brighten up the long winter evenings but not one you can do by halves. We're spending over £46,000 to do it justice."
