A TWELVE-piece New Orleans jazz band led families and friends to lay a locally-renowned musician to rest last week. Steve Morgans of West Park, Mottingham, died suddenly from a stroke and brain haemorrhage, aged 37, in the early hours of November 3. He was pianist and singer with the Mardi Gras Jazz Band and band members and friends came together last Wednesday to lead his cortge from his mother's Orpington home to Eltham Crematorium. More than 200 people attended the funeral, many of whom are musicians. The hymns were played by a jazz band and a trumpet solo and singer also took part in the ceremony
