WELCARE FAIR: Greenwich WelCare, which runs a parents and children centre, is holding a Christmas fair on Saturday November 24. The aim of the fair is to raise much-needed funds. The event will take place from to 4.30pm at St Michael's Hall, Blackheath Park, where there will be lots of bargains and Christmas presents for sale. Refreshments will also be available. Admission is 20p.
HELP FOR ALCOHOLICS: A free service for alcoholics offering confidential advice and support has been opened for residents of Bexley and Greenwich. Reports suggest twice as many Londoners are dependent on alcohol compared with drugs, and the initiative, recently unveiled by Bexley Mayor Aileen Beckwith, intends to combat this.
