London Knights defender Doug Searle has announced he is leaving the London Arena-based club

After thinking hard about the current situation, Searle has decided to return to north America to be with his young family at a crucial time in their lives.

Head Coach Bob Leslie confirmed: "Searle's decision was entirely a personal one and was in no way hockey related.

"He has not signed for another club at the present moment and the Knights have not, as yet, signed a replacement.

"The London Knights organisation would like to wish him and his family all the best for the future and thank him for his hard work and dedication he showed to the team's cause."

Meanwhile, on the ice, Knights lost

2-1 away to Nottingham Panthers before earning a draw in a gutsy display against Manchester Storm on Sunday.

Mike Ware levelled for the Knights after Trevor Gallant had given the Storm the lead.

The Knights, who were missing the suspended Rob Donovan and injured Rich Bronilla, were not happy at the sports authorities.

Coach Bob Leslie was thwarted in his bid to sign Greg Burke in time for the weekend's game and has only 12 fit players ahead of this weekend's Continental Cup in Oslo.
