A TEENAGE girl from Northfleet has admitted handling more than £1,000 worth of stolen goods.

A court heard how 19-year-old Terri French bought 28 DVDs, six videos, a DVD rack and two Sony speakers for £30.

When police raided her Wallis Park home in July, she told them she had bought them from a man who she had met in the street.

He had the items, valued at £1,300, in a black bin-liner but French originally said she did not suspect they were stolen. She later admitted she "thought something was wrong".

Prosecutor Darren Crispin, who was interrupted when French's mobile phone rang in her bag, told Dartford Magistrates' Court: "A large quantity of items had been burgled from a house the night before."

He added: "When the police raided her address, she told them she didn't have a DVD player but was planning to buy one."

The court heard French, who works as a cleaner for Gravesham Borough Council, had appeared before magistrates on a similar matter before but had "very much learned her lesson".

Magistrate Raymond Bellamy fined the teenager £250 and ordered her to pay £120 costs.
