SPELTHORNE councillors welcomed the airport's expansion but promised to make BAA stick tightly to the Secretary of State for Transport's conditions.
The council's director of community services, Richard Fairgrieve, said: "We are relieved to have a decision at last. We're now facing the major expansion of Heathrow and the job for us is to minimise the impact on the local environment and residents. We recognise the benefits Heathrow brings to the borough and a successful Heathrow is a successful borough, but we recognise the Secretary of State will impose a number of conditions and we will work with BAA to make sure these are met."
