Hillingdon Youth Arts (HYART) are presenting their first Youth Arts Week from Monday (Nov 26).
HYART runs three youth theatre groups, 360 degree Youth Theatre for 16 to 19-year-olds, Magnetic North for 14 to 16-year-olds and Magnetic North Too for 12 to 14-year-olds, all based at the Compass Theatre, Ickenham. There is also a dance group which rehearses at the Hayes Community Campus and a video workshop group, also based at the Compass.
The week's programme of events, providing a platform for the groups to present their performance skills to other people in the community, will also involve young people from Vyners, Mellow Lane, Bishop Ramsey and Swakeleys schools and Hillingdon Music Service musicians.
Monday (Nov 26) will see screenings and discussions of the work of HYART's young film makers at the Hayes Community Campus at 7.30pm. There'll also be a visit from a professional film maker. Admission is 50p.
On Thursday (Nov 19) there'll be an evening of jazz courtesy of young musicians from Hillingdon Music Service at the Compass Theatre at 7.30pm. Admission is £2.
The drama groups will be performing a selection of plays on Friday (Nov 30) at 7pm at the Hayes Community Campus and again on Saturday (Dec 1) at 7.30pm at the Compass Theatre. Admission is £2.
Call HYART on 01895 465572 for more information about these events or about joining any of the groups.
