An article in the Hendon Times on November 15 quoted: "The 50th anniversary of the death of pianist and composer Nicolas Medtner who lived for 16 years in Golders Green passed without notice on Wednesday."
Well, not if you happened to be listening to Radio 3's "Composer of the Week", who was indeed one Nicolas Medtner.
Personally, I find a little Medtner goes a very long way, but five hours of prime-time Radio 3 hardly justifies David Peacock's quote that "... sadly, he is not of national interest."
I must say I do look forward to hearing some more Medtner, perhaps in fifty years time on his 100th anniversary?
