ONCE again Enfield Football Club has been shunned by local politicians.
Despite the best efforts of club officials to meet the powers that be, MPs and councillors are digging their heels in by refusing to even hold talks with the homeless 108-year-old club.
Owner Tony Lazarou may not be the most popular man in the borough but he has persistently gone on record stating his desire to find a site in the borough.
His frustration boiled over when he lodged a High Court writ on the council in a bid to make some headway.
The council's task force has, despite endless meetings, failed to come up with a solution and now seems to have ground to a halt.
The Independent urges council leader Doug Taylor to sit round the table with Mr Lazarou to settle the differences between the two parties before it reaches the courts.
While it drags on the lawyers will get richer and the historic non-league club will fall further into oblivion.
Sort out this mess once and for all.
The Independent would like to take this opportunity to offer our condolences to all who knew club secretary Keith Hughes who died tragically of a heart attack last Saturday.
