DRIVER Elvis Teddie Dobson jumped to his death from the 16th floor of St Fabian's Tower, Chingford, when emotionally unstable, an inquest heard last week.o
Mr Dobson's father Dudley, of Cathall Road, Leytonstone, said: "I loved my son very much, and I do not understand why he killed himself."
Mr Dobson, 42, originally from Jamaica, of Arnott Square, Chingford, had lived with Sonia Mahorn, 40, at St Alban's Tower, Chingford. They had two children Chantelle, 15, and Reece, 11.
Ms Mahorn was a witness, but was unable to attend the inquest at Walthamstow Coroner's Court last Thursday, and her statement was read to Mr Dobson's family.
She said she was leaving Teddie, as she had enough of his drug taking and abusive behaviour.
Mr Dobson and Ms Mahorn had argued at her mother's house in Burnside Avenue, Chingford, on Monday, August 6, the day he died.
He had wanted her to stop seeing her new boyfriend. During the argument he told Ms Mahorn that she would bury him and he would haunt her.
After he left the house, Ms Mahorn rang the police. Shortly afterwards John Corbin, Mr Dobson's friend, arrived at Ms Mahorn's mother's house saying: "Why my house?."
Mr Dobson had jumped from the balcony of Mr Corbin's flat.
He was found lifeless on the pavement by PC Callum McFarlane. Paramedics failed to resuscitate him and he was pronounced dead at 12.36pm.
Pathologist Dr Elizabeth Cox said Mr Dobson had died from severe multiple and internal injuries.
Toxicology reports showed that he had taken cocaine a couple of days before his death.
The coroner recorded a verdict that Mr Dobson had taken his own life while going through a period of emotional distress.
