A long-serving Croydon police officer has been awarded a top accolade by the Mayor, Councillor Peter Hopson.
Divisional officer Peter Griffiths MBE was presented with the Mayor's citation on November 11 for his outstanding work in the community for the Special Constabulary.
The Remembrance Service was his last official civic engagement before his retirement, where he laid the wreath on behalf of the Metropolitan Police.
At the reception afterwards he was awarded his commendation as well as a small gift.
Peter joined as a special officer at Croydon in 1981 and 10 years later was promoted to divisional officer, remaining in the post until his retirement.
