Pupils in Lewisham and Greenwich have been taking part in a £250,000 London-wide campaign targeting racial and cultural bullying.
Thomas Tallis Secondary School, Kidbrooke Park Road, is already using the material distributed last week in its art classes.
Pupils hope to win the anti-racist mouse mat competition which will see the winning picture being used as a design for mats to be distributed free to schools.
Thomas Tallis headteacher Nick Williams said: "All of us have seen the corrosive effect particularly of racist comments and how hateful it can be. We will be using the material in a number of our classes."
The Metropolitan Police Youth Diversity Anti-Hate Crime Campaign packs contain posters, CD rom games, advice and a mouse mat competition. Advertorials have been put in teen magazines and the campaign will see TV advertisements commissioned by the Met.
Deputy for Lifelong Learning, councillor Katy Donnelly, said: "Lewisham is a leading authority in fostering good multicultural education. Anything which helps us nip racism in the bud should be encouraged."
