Staff at Mill Hill's British Forces Post Office (BFPO) really pushed the boat out for Children in Need last week.

Dedicated volunteers, including John Bint and organiser Grant Sutherland, rowed 250,000 for the appeal between 7am and 3.30pm on Friday last week

The event raised £233 and was ideal preparation for the BFPO's rowing team which went on to take part in the British National Rowing Championships in Birmingham on Sunday.

The BFPO also raised £300 with a charity horse racing night at its Ingliss Barracks base in Bittacy Hill and £80 by auctioning tickets for Arsenal's home Worthington Cup tie against Manchester United earlier this month.

Meanwhile a bright pink skip rolled slowly through the streets of Mill Hill, Edgware and Burnt Oak on Saturday collecting coins from passers-by.

The event, thought up by Woodhouse College student Simon Salter, raised £578.34 around £100 per hour of its journey.
