HAVING read the planning application from Enfield Council in relation to the proposed building of a home for young offenders, I am appalled at the lack of democracy between the council and the, quite justified protesters (The Green Edmonton Action Group).
This is to be built on the corner of Hertford Road and Forest Road, a part of Edmonton that is already rife with drug dealers and other criminality, and completely unfit for the young offenders to be in.
Also, the council will not consider either the possible effect on the value of people's property, or the ownership disputes of right of way and fences both of which are of vital concern to house owners in the area.
However, these people have no right of appeal, whereas the applicants (Christian Action) do have this right. Where is the democracy in this?
