JAZZ Week at Middlesex University starts on Monday and to celebrate Enfield residents are invited to take part in a range of free activities.

Some of London's best teachers, students and professional jazz practitioners will be leading workshops, master classes, gigs and scratch groups.

The activities will take place in the music block at the University's Trent Park campus from Monday November 26 to Thursday 29.

On Monday there will be activities between 9.30am-6pm with a performance at 4pm of the music of Steely Dan.

On Tuesday there will be activities between 9.30am-6pm with an open rehearsal and performance of the Samba School between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.

On Wednesday there will be activities between 9.30am-5.30pm with an open choir rehearsal between 12 noon and 2pm and a vocal performance at 5.30pm.

On Thursday there will be activities between 9.30am and 7pm with a trio performance of the Bill Evans songbook at 1pm, a performance by the Liberation Orchestra at 4.30pm and a Middlesex jazz staff session at 5pm.

Julian Mincham, chairman of the university's music group said: "Jazz week has been designed to bring the experience to members of the wider local community, to invite people in to talk and listen to our musicians and to participate in some of the joys of the jazz experience."
