It is perhaps not too difficult to understand why the general public feel a certain amount of contempt for the way in which law and order is enforced by the Metropolitan Police.
I was recently stopped by police officers for contravening code 340 (driving in a bus lane), and while my details were recorded for a Fixed Penalty Notice, the other officer apprehended about eight other motorists committing the same offence.
After a brief warning, all eight motorists were dismissed.
On protesting at the blatant unfair treatment to some members of society, the explanation that I received was that all offending vehicles could pose a hazard to other motorists.
I fully accept my error and therefore I have paid my fine.
I suggest that the Metropolitan Police either purchase Polaroid cameras and record all offending motorists, or treat all members of society in a fair and proper fashion.
