I agree with the letter Fireworks need Regulating (News Shopper, November 14).
I don't mind organised displays when people know where and when they are taking place.
Even so, do we need the extra loud bangs which usually come at the end. What many people are fed up with is the constant noise over more than a month and held until well after midnight.
How are people expected to cope with nervous children and pets over this length of time. It is just like the war days.
Not only are there fireworks now, but they have also become part of Christmas and New Year celebrations.
New Year used to be celebrated noisily for five to 10 minutes just at midnight. Now with fireworks, it goes on for well over an hour.
Not everyone has a holiday on New Year's Day.
