ENFIELD is celebrating after being granted almost £3 million of Lottery funding to help boost sporting facilities in the borough.o
The borough is set to receive £2,995,000 from the lottery's New Opportunities Fund, which will dish out more than £81 million across London.
The cash, from the largest ever Lottery-funded sports programme, will be used to improve and support Enfield's sporting facilities for schools and the wider community.
It will be a huge boost in helping to create and modernise existing indoor and outdoor facilities.
The funding will also be used to promote sport in the community and wider use of the facilities provided. Outdoor adventure facilities for youngsters could also get a facelift.
Plans for spending the cash, are yet to be decided, but will be coordinated by Enfield Council's education department which will consult strategic partners, schools and sporting organisations.
Liz Graham, the council's director for education said: "We are delighted to receive this new money and we are looking forward to working with our partners to maximise its use to improve the sports facilities in our schools."
