I WANT to thank all those, particularly the young people, who took part in the Lord Mayor's Show in the City of London, on a cold but bright Saturday, November 10.
It was a wonderful day and I was impressed by the splendid activities of thousands of people from London and beyond who made such marvellous contributions in bands and with floats and the many thousands more who lined the streets to watch.
The many contributions from beyond the City were further confirmation that the Show belongs to the whole of London and to boroughs, towns and cities beyond the capital.
I have supported the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone in his call to visitors and tourists to flock back to the capital and I believe that the Show and the huge crowds watching, were an early demonstration that it is business and fun as usual.
ALDERMAN MICHAEL OLIVER,
Lord Mayor of the City of London,Mansion House,
