I WRITE to warn other passengers who may be travelling on a W11 bus into Sainsbury's supermarket at the Billet that they must now give specific instructions to the driver if they wish to alight.
Last Friday I boarded the bus at Walthamstow Central going in the direction of Chingford. As we reached the Billet roundabout, the driver of the shouted out: ''No one wants to go to Tesco's, do they?''
I shouted back; ''No I don't want to go to Tesco's but I wish to go to Sainsbury's.''
The driver completely ignored me and drove straight past the bus stop opposite Walthamstow Stadium and, instead of turning left into the slip road to go to Sainsbury's, simply drove on.
I frantically rang the bell and asked him what he was playing at. His reply was that as no-one had wanted to go to Tesco's he was driving straight on.
As this bus was being driven by a driver who apparently was deaf, blind and ignorant of the route, I suggest that the greatest care must be taken when boarding these buses to ensure that the drivers are fully aware of where they are supposed to be going.
Perhaps a revised look at the route map before they start the engine.
