Bus 284 restored to original routing. Good news for residents around the Ravensbourne Park Road area.

They now, once again have a frequent daytime bus service and more importantly, an evening service.

But was there really a necessity to re-route the 284 from the first day of its new operator after bringing in larger buses, which allegedly could not pass through the Ravensbourne Park Road width barrier?

It took six months of route 284's temporary routing until a round hump was fitted to both sides of the road at the width of the barrier. Then normal 284 routing recommenced. What a disgrace!

Do Transport for London, Stagecoach London or Lewisham Council really care?

Are they serious about getting people out of cars and onto public transport?

Perhaps one of the parties would care to explain.

How does the road hump help the larger buses through the barrier? All I can say is that it certainly slows the cars down.

Why couldn't older, smaller buses be used (as on route 584), until the alleged problem was resolved?

Why did temporary route 584 have only a half-hourly daytime service while 284s ran every 12 minutes and there was no evening service at all?
