KINDER BOLOGNA 94 KINDER LONDON TOWERS 72

Kinder London Towers lost 94-72 to reigning champions Kinder Bologna, of Italy, in Group B of the Euroleague on Thursday night.

But their was no shame in the defeat as Towers kept pace with their mighty opponents to tie 41-41 at half time, following early runs of 7-0 and 9-2, plus an 11-3 second quarter tear.

But Kinder outscored the Towers 34-14 in the third quarter to post an unassailable 75-55 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The closest Towers got in the final period was 79-68, after a 13-2 run, but Kinder again pulled away to claim the prize.

John White and Terrell Myers each bagged 16 points for the Towers, but it was Bolognas Emanuel Ginobili who led all scorers with 31.

London Towers manager Lino Frattin who used to be with Kinder Bologna said: We are improving offensively, but still have a lot of work to do defensively. Unfortunately we are not able to work on these things because of the number of games we have.

However, it did not take the Towers long to bounce back from defeat and they recorded a 110-96 victory over Newcastle Eagles in Group B of the BBL Trophy.

Towers opened up an early lead in the first quarter, but Newcastle stayed in contact with 17 points from Malcolm Leak to trail 60-58 at the half.

Towers started the second half with a 12-2 tear to take the score to 72-60 and they then never relinquished the lead.

Jeremy Hyatt led all scorers in the game with 27 points for the Eagles, while Terrell Myers led the Towers scoring with 23. Brett Eppehimer added 20 points and John White netted 19.

Kinder London Towers were due to return to BBL Champ-ionship action last night when they played host to Milton Keynes Lions at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.
