TWO Harlow schools have each received £500 as a thank you from Three Valleys Water for their co-operation during a recent water mains refurbishment project.
Work on the main affected the grounds of Stewards School and neighbouring St James Church of England School, causing a temporary loss of play space.
Stewards has already used its money to buy new sports equipment, including a set of football shirts, two sets of netball bibs, badminton rackets, netballs and basketballs.
Head teacher Rhonda Murther said: "The donation has come in very handy and, as the disruption affected our sports facilities, we decided to spend the money on additional sports equipment which is already being put to good use."
St James will use the money to develop and improve the school grounds.
Head teacher Emma Wilkinson said: "The money is welcomed and will be put towards some form of adventure playground and planting, with the School Council and the Friends of St James getting involved."
