A MATHS teacher from Southgate hopes to raise more than £5,000 for charity by cycling an exhausting 260 miles along The Nile.o
Mr Bun Constantinou, a teacher at Salisbury School, Edmonton, will embark on what he describes as a 'challenge of a lifetime' in February.
The 45-year-old will join 100 cyclists on his journey through some of the world's most breathtaking scenery to raise funds for Mencap, a charity for people with learning disabilities.
The eight day ride will take them from Luxor to Aswan and back through 3,000 years of history including the celebrated Temple of Edfu, The Tomb of Tutankhamun and the Aswan Dam.
Mr Constantinou has already managed to raise £1100 in sponsorship money but hopes that a non school uniform day, fun day and the proceeds from a raffle for a mountain bike will boost funds.
The married father of two, who is a keen cyclist, is now in preparation for the 100 km a day ride and is training three times a week.
He said: " I know people think it's a bit crazy but this is a challenge I am really looking forward too."
If you would like to sponsor Mr Constantinou contact Salisbury School on 8372 5678.
Wheatsheaf Woodcraft Folk have organised a fun day at the Wheatsheaf Hall, Main Avenue on Friday November 30 at 6.30pm. Entry costs £1.
