Residents of Bromley may have been intrigued by recent reports that crime was at it's lowest for a decade. Any drop in crime must be welcomed, but I fear many people will not feel this is the case.
Whatever the facts are, it is my belief any crime is too much crime. That is exactly why I, and my Conservative colleagues who sit on the Metropolitan Police Authority, refuse to become complacent in the fight to make your community safer.
I am committed to getting more police officers on your streets, by working with the MPA, Borough Commanders, Councillors and community groups. I also recognise the systematic reduction of government grant to policing in London since 1997, and will argue for more resources from the Home Office to ensure that the Metropolitan Police are not financially stretched because of national security implications.
I would welcome correspondence from residents of Bromley who have suffered from crime or have worries relating the policing. Armed with such information I can then petition the police on your behalf. Together we can work to ensure that fear of violence and robberies are a thing of the past.
